Ellie Colman, our Speech and Language therapist, will be hosting a parent coffee morning at John Jamieson school. This is open to parents from across the East SILC inlcuding our partnership sites. This informal session will be an introduction to some basic communication strategies that can be used to support speech and language development. Ellie will also discuss the plans for the development of the Speech and Language Therapy Service at the East SILC.

This event will take place ahead of our participation in 'No Pens Day' in school on 4th October. The aim of the No Pens Day is to encourage the skills of speaking and listening. For one day, students in the school will put down their pens and all lessons and activities will have an even stronger emphasis on using communication skills rather than writing skills. This is part of our ongoing commitment to promote and ecnourage communication and social interaction skills.
