Values, Aims and Ethos
We aim to enhance educational, physical, personal and spiritual development and well-being, by taking into account the individual needs of all pupils in the school environment. By working together as a multi-disciplinary team, the school aims to provide a holistic approach to learning.

Personalised pathways to successful learning and continuous achievement.
- Provide a safe, happy environment which supports the learning of every pupil.
- Provide a broad, balanced curriculum which is relevant and differentiated to meet the needs of the individual.
- Write Individual Learning Pathway Plans (ILPP) and Individual Behaviour Programmes (IBP) (where necessary), which are shared with parents/carers and revised regularly throughout the year.
- Communicate information using home-school books, diaries, letters and newsletters, Twitter or using parents/carers preferred form of communication.
- Offer regular consultations to discuss pupil progress in addition to a pupil’s School Report, Education and Health Care Plan review meetings and Transition meetings.
- Work with Children Leeds to ensure the provision of safe and efficient transport, if required.
- Continue to extend mainstream opportunities for inclusion across the key stages.
- Continue to extend work-related learning experiences for older pupils.

Our core values are embedded through our House System.
The House launch day was a great success. Both pupils and staff came into school wearing their House colours and attended a whole school assembly which created a great sense of school community. Pupils gained a further insight into the House system and had an opportunity to socialise with pupils and staff in their designated Houses, across all phases.
We now have a central display at the school’s entrance dedicated to this new initiative and it serves to remind pupils of how House points are achieved. The school values that were established as part of the Investors in People Award permeate the ethos of the House system. There are new signs displaying the values statement and House names around school and these serve as a visual reminder of the ethos promoted through school life.
We have used coaching sessions to discuss the implementation and purpose of the system. Pupil feedback through these sessions has been very positive and our young people feel that their successes and development of emotional and personal skills outside of the classroom are celebrated and recognised.
As part of their Functional Skills English lessons, a group of Post 16 pupils will be counting and reporting on the House points. They will be providing weekly bulletins for assemblies and will be reporting to the School Council.
