Meet the Governing Board

Governors Biographies

Amanda Jahdi Chair of Governors

I have been a governor at John Jamieson (East SILC) for approximately 10 years but I worked with the school for 2 years before that as their HR adviser and clerk to the Governing Body. My current roles on the GB are; child protection governor and Resources Committee. I have many years’ experience as a governor, starting at Lawnswood School, where I am currently Chair of Governors, when my son joined in 1993. Prior to that, I was a governor at a local primary school. Over time, I have been a governor in a few schools that have needed additional support and last year I became a local leader of governance.

I took early retirement from the Local Authority in December 2014 after 25 years working variously as a senior HR advisor, in pupil place planning, and as a project manager in the Built Environment Team primarily involved in building new high schools across Leeds. I currently work part time as an office co-ordinator and as a clerk to governing bodies which allows me a privileged insight into other governing bodies across the city. I have recently become a member of Schools' Forum in Leeds.

In my spare time? Well I don't have much of that but I enjoy the theatre, walking and looking after my daughter's two dogs.
