Similarly to our Queenswood offer, at Little Woodhouse Hall, Key Stage 3 and 4 students focus on the Core Subjects, with some enrichment built in and around this central offer. The curriculum is focused on an individualised approach, with all students having a Personalised Education Plan to support their progress.
In the schoolroom, young people access English, maths and science sessions timetabled across the week, delivered by a small team of specialist secondary subject teachers. Young people are able to study the exam boards offered by their mainstream schools and close liaison means that they are able to cover similar content to their peers, which supports transition back into school when they are well enough.
An individualised approach is used with all students, who usually work alongside others in a small group setting, pursuing their own work and receiving 1:1 teacher time. In addition to the core subjects, young people are offered a ‘STEAM’ (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) session every Friday afternoon as well as P.E, in the form of a weekly Yoga session led by one of our teachers.
