School Council09 Apr 2015School CouncilThe School Council is an active group of students who represent each class in High School and 16+. There are also two members representing Primary. In total there are twelve pupils who have been elected by their class. They meet every half term and discuss things which have been brought to their attention from discussions held during pastoral time.

This term has been very successful and they have managed to achieve many of the things that the pupils felt would add to their daily life in school.
Some examples include:
  • E Readers – 16+ felt these would be very useful and wanted to start a reading group. As a result we have purchased ten Kindles for pupils to use.
  • Pupils said they would like quiet, relaxing music in the dining room. We purchased a new music system and now enjoy a wide range of music including classical and sensory. Pupils are really enjoying listening to the different genres at lunchtimes.
  • Pupils in 14+ wanted a new music player in their recreational area. This has been bought and they are enjoying the music here at break and lunchtimes.
  • The Council members requested identity badges. After much discussion and a vote, they decided on badges like the staff wear and a red lanyard which identifies them as School Council members. They proudly wear these at meeting or when showing visitors around the school.
